Lewis was exposed as a petulant, vindictive adolescent, squabbling on the radio with his team during the race and whining about mechanical issues afterwards, while Nico simply buckled down and did precisely what was required to finish the season as champion.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Noted Road and Track hot shoe racer/writer Jack Baruth with the nice take down in his larger piece on Nico. Note- that quotes what the R&T Facebook feed is using for the article.

If it’s not written by Fred Smith, you shouldn’t read it.

Am I the only one who actively avoids almost anything F1? The drivers are a bunch of whiny prima donnas, the teams are bureaucratic (team orders are bullshit,) it’s run by an iron fisted, elitist, classist muppet, and it seems like many American fans of it are so mostly because they’re wannabe Euro snobs.

Sounds like something on TLC. I’d watch it.

But the racing is fun to watch, the tracks are beautiful and the announcers are often quite interesting. And with the new rules next year, it may even be competitive again. You can watch it without the drama, but watching self-absorbing rich people repeated embarass themselves is suprisingly good.

They have a couple of good writers, and Baruth is a solid 50-50 on his stuff. I subscribe, which probably makes me super old or something.

The most telling thing to me was the way the two reacted to each other in the holding room before heading out to the podium. Lewis shook Nico’s hand for the cameras during the interview, but I don’t know if he even gave him eye contact in that room. You could actually see Nico glancing over at him to see if he would turn and talk to him. You know what? I get it, you lost, it sucks, and the season wasn’t yours due to things not in your control, but you lost. Be a man and congratulate your teammate, regardless of how disappointed you are with the result.

I’m an American fan, but not because I want a Merc with blasting Techno music. I find the cars interesting and I like that they travel the world. Been watching forever as well. I’ve always followed the teams more than the drivers and have loved the underdogs. Forza Minardi.

The worst part about Hamilton’s behavior was how all he did in EVERY interview was mention his reliability issues as if to discount Rosberg’s win. He did it multiple times in the official FIA conference, while Nico was sitting right next to him... I was really happy when Sebastian Vettel answered a question, and then said “And, I’d like to add...” and gave a great congratulations to Nico. Much classier than shitting all over the new WDC like Lewis tried to do...

It’s at 14:11 in the video, just in case...

Lewis was exposed as being competitive.

Lewis was exposed as the faster driver.

Lewis was exposed as being someone who wanted to win the championship.

Lewis was exposed as being a driver who won more races in 2016 than any other non-Champion in F1 history. Oh, and more than Nico.

Seriously, I’m just glad he made the last few laps so exciting. If he hadn’t forgotten how to start a race for most of the year, or didn’t have his engine blow in Malaysia, we’d have nothing to talk about except how boring F1 was.

I generally don’t like behavior like Hamiltons, but it somehow fits in F1.

Congrats to Nico...next year should be even more interesting!

Yeah, good on Vettel for speaking up on Nico’s behalf.

He also called Lewis out on the podium for going “so slow” up front.
